Equipment

  • hurricane glass (or tiki mug/large rocks glass)
  • jigger or measuring tools

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz dark rum Jamaican, Demerara, or aged Puerto Rican rum recommended
  • 1 oz fresh pineapple juice
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 oz passion fruit juice
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.25 oz grenadine
  • 0.25 oz orgeat syrup almond syrup
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Pineapple wedge and cherry for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Add all liquid ingredients (rum, juices, grenadine, orgeat syrup, bitters) to a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes (not crushed).
  • Shake vigorously for 15 seconds to mix and chill.
  • Strain the mixture over fresh ice cubes into a hurricane glass, tiki mug, or large rocks glass.
  • Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your tropical escape!

Notes

Use fresh fruit juices whenever possible for best flavor—avoid canned or pre-made juice cocktails.
For parties, multiply the base ingredients but add citrus juices just before serving to keep punch fresh.
Try variations by adding cinnamon and nutmeg (Spiced Aloha), swapping half rum for mezcal (Smoky Island), or replacing orgeat with cream of coconut plus coconut rum (Coconut Cloud).
Avoid crushed ice in the shaker to prevent over-dilution.
Garnishes enhance aroma and presentation, so don’t skimp!
