Ingredients
  

For the banana base

  • 4 ripe bananas Use ripe bananas for the best sweetness and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Helps prevent browning of bananas.

For the crumbly topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with almond flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Can substitute with white sugar plus a little molasses.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • A pinch salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas and mix in the lemon juice.
  • In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Stir in the melted butter until you get a crumbly texture.
  • Spread the banana mixture in a baking dish and top with the crumble.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or fresh berries. To store, let cool completely before placing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
