Equipment

  • Small pot or kettle
  • Teacup or teapot
  • Strainer (if using loose-leaf tea)
  • Knife for slicing ginger

Ingredients

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 bags green tea or 2 tsp loose-leaf green tea
  • 1- inch fresh ginger root thinly sliced
  • 1/2 fresh lemon juiced

Optional Enhancers:

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp raw honey if needed
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Pinch of turmeric

Instructions

  • Prep Ingredients: Slice fresh ginger and squeeze lemon juice.
  • Heat Water: Bring 2 cups of filtered water to about 175°F (just before boiling).
  • Steep Tea: Add green tea bags and ginger slices to a cup or teapot. Pour hot water over them and let steep for 3-5 minutes.
  • Strain & Finish: Remove tea bags and strain ginger. Stir in fresh lemon juice. Add optional enhancers if desired.
  • Enjoy: Sip warm, or chill and serve over ice for a refreshing iced version.

Notes

Avoid fully boiling water as it can make green tea taste bitter. Let boiled water sit for 2 minutes before steeping.
Store extra ginger slices in the freezer for convenience.
Adjust steeping time based on your taste preference.
