  • 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled Don't skip the bacon; it adds a wonderful flavor.
  • 1 cup ranch dressing Can be substituted with blue cheese or Caesar dressing.
  • 2 cups tater tots Make sure tater tots are evenly layered for consistent crispiness.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend) Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese to your liking.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning to your preference.
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish Add for extra flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, crumbled bacon, and ranch dressing. Stir until well mixed.
  • Transfer the chicken mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Layer the tater tots on top of the chicken mixture.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the tater tots.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

This casserole is delicious on its own but can be even better with some simple sides like a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. Consider adding sour cream or hot sauce for an extra kick. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to three days or frozen for up to three months.
