Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour For a healthier twist, use whole wheat flour.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to substitute with other chip varieties.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix well.
  • Stir in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until combined.
  • Add baking soda and salt, and mix well.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

These bars are delicious on their own but can be served with vanilla ice cream or powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container for freshness.
