  • 4 large buttery croissants, cut into pieces Use day-old croissants for better absorption.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut cream.
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • Arrange croissant pieces in the dish and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over them.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and chocolate chips, pressing the croissants down slightly to soak.
  • Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and set.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This dish is delicious on its own but can be served with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a drizzle of maple syrup. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze portions for up to a month.
