  • 0.5 cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 large Large Egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Frosting Ingredients

  • 4 cups Sifted Powdered Sugar
  • 0.25 cups Heavy Cream
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/8 tsp Salt

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla, then mix well. Gradually add the dry mixture and combine until a dough forms.
  • Chill the dough for about an hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven and roll out the chilled dough.
  • Use cookie cutters to shape your cookies.
  • Place them on a baking sheet and bake until edges are set.
  • Cool cookies completely before frosting with vanilla buttercream.

Notes

Chill the dough properly to avoid sticky cookies. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking. Add sprinkles to your frosting for a fun touch!
