- ¼ cup white granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Whisk until well blended. 
- Gradually add the milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. 
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring often, for 5-7 minutes, until the gravy thickens. 
- Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract until smooth. 
- Serve immediately over warm biscuits, pancakes, or waffles.
