  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use milk or dark chocolate chips based on preference.

For the Caramel Layer

  • 1 cup caramel candies Melt with heavy cream.
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream Used to melt caramel.
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt Sprinkle on top if desired.

Other Ingredients

  • 12 pieces mini cupcake liners For serving the cups.

Preparation

  • Line a mini muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  • Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate into the bottom of each liner, spreading it up the sides slightly.
  • Place in the refrigerator to set for about 15 minutes.

Caramel Layer

  • Meanwhile, melt caramel candies with heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  • Spoon melted caramel into each chocolate cup, filling to the top.

Finishing Touches

  • Reheat remaining chocolate if it has solidified, and spoon chocolate over the caramel to seal.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top if desired.
  • Return to the refrigerator to set for another 30 minutes.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to a month. Let them thaw in the fridge before enjoying again. You can add crushed candy canes for a festive touch.
