Ingredients
  

Brownie Base:

  • 2 cups 12.25 oz semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup 4 oz unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup 1.6 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.1 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 2.12 oz all-purpose flour

Cream Cheese Swirl:

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • Melt chocolate chips and butter together over low heat until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder until fully combined. Let cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat 5 eggs, sugar, and vanilla until well combined. Gradually add the chocolate mixture.
  • Sift flour into the batter and gently fold until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until creamy and fully combined.
  • Pour 2/3 of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly.
  • Drop dollops of cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Add the remaining brownie batter in spoonfuls over the top.
  • Use a knife or skewer to swirl the cream cheese and brownie batter into a marbled pattern.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into 20 squares.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for a smooth cream cheese filling.
Don’t overmix the batter to maintain fudgy texture.
Refrigerating the brownies helps them set and enhances the flavor.
For extra flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder to the brownie batter.
