Ingredients

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large zest of 1 large orange
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional) You can substitute with dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips if desired.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, orange zest, and vanilla extract, then mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips if you're using them.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes if too sticky and avoid overmixing to keep cookies tender. These cookies pair well with milk or can be served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
