- 2 –3 cloves garlic minced
- 12 oz cooked chicken sausage sliced (e.g., spicy Italian or garlic herb)
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: red pepper flakes fresh baby spinach, lemon zest, or chopped parsley
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Sauté onion for 3–4 minutes until softened, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add sliced chicken sausage and cook for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned.
Stir in the dry orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
Pour in chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Mix until creamy.
Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir in spinach or lemon zest if using.
