  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt.
  • Gradually add warm water while mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Shape the risen dough into baguettes and place on a baking sheet.
  • Allow them to rest for another 30 minutes.
  • Make slashes on the tops of the baguettes for decoration and to help steam escape.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crusty.
  • Let cool before slicing and enjoy!

Notes

For a crustier baguette, spray water into the oven when baking. Store in a paper bag or cloth; avoid plastic bags to keep the crust crispy.
