Equipment

  • 9x13-inch or 8x8-inch baking dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 6–7 cups fresh peaches, sliced (or thawed frozen/canned, drained)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or use an 8x8-inch pan for a thicker crisp.
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches with brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Toss until well-coated. Spread evenly in prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cut in butter with fingers or a pastry cutter until crumbly. Sprinkle topping over peach mixture.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Fresh ripe peaches are best, but frozen or canned peaches also work (just drain well). Add nuts or spices for extra flavor. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be assembled ahead and baked before serving. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
