Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 piece 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon or ham, chopped
  • 1/2 cup vegetables (spinach, mushrooms, or asparagus)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Sprinkle cheese and fillings (meat, vegetables, herbs) evenly in the crust. Pour the custard mixture over the top.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is set and the crust is golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

For the best results, use a combination of whole milk and heavy cream for the custard. Mix and match fillings such as bacon, spinach, or mushrooms. Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing so it sets properly. Can also be made crustless for a lighter version.
