  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar You can make your own by blending granulated sugar until fine.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.

Baking

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are wonderful on their own with a cup of tea or coffee. You can also serve them with a scoop of ice cream or package them neatly as gifts. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze them individually wrapped.
