  • 6 slices bread Use day-old bread for better texture.
  • 4 pieces eggs Can substitute with flax egg or applesauce for a vegan option.
  • 1 cup milk Almond milk or oat milk can be used for dairy-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Can spice it up with nutmeg or pumpkin spice.
  • Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Can substitute with bananas or apples.
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  • Cut the bread into cubes and add to the egg mixture, stirring to coat the bread evenly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and top with fresh berries.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and set.
  • Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Can freeze individual portions for up to a month; reheat in the microwave or oven.
