Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

Add-Ins

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Use freshly shredded for best flavor.
  • 1 cup diced ham Can be substituted with cooked bacon or sausage.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
  • Fold in the cheddar cheese and diced ham.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Make sure not to over-mix the batter; it should be slightly lumpy. For variations, swap out cheddar for pepper jack cheese or add chopped veggies for extra flavor.
