Ingredients
  

Base Tea:

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4-5 cardamom pods lightly crushed

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup/stevia
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 fresh mint leaves
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Bring filtered water to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan.
  • Add ginger, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, and cardamom pods.
  • Lower the heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes uncovered.
  • Strain tea into a mug using a fine mesh strainer, pressing the solids.
  • Stir in honey, lemon juice, and mint (if using).
  • Serve warm for best results.

Notes

For a metabolism boost, add cinnamon and black pepper.
For an evening tea, add chamomile and reduce ginger.
For a fat-burning twist, add cayenne and lime.
Can be enjoyed cold over ice in summer.
Safe to make ahead and refrigerate for 2–3 days.
Pregnant individuals should consult a doctor and use less ginger.
