Korean Ground Beef Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 green onions , thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until completely cooked through, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula.
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  • Simmer the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Serve the beef mixture over bowls of warm cooked white rice.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
