- 1- inch piece of fresh ginger
- Half a fresh lemon organic if possible
- 8-10 ounces warm water 160-170°F
- Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey
Grate or finely mince the fresh ginger using a microplane or fine grater.
Heat water to approximately 160-170°F (warm but not boiling).
Place the grated ginger in a mug and pour the warm water over it. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes to extract the flavor and nutrients.
Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the mug.
Add honey if desired for sweetness. Stir well.
Drink first thing in the morning, ideally 20-30 minutes before eating.
Use fresh ginger for maximum benefits; powdered ginger lacks essential oils.
Avoid boiling water to preserve vitamin C in lemon.
Adjust ginger quantity to taste, especially if you’re new to its spicy kick.
For quicker mornings, prep grated ginger and lemon juice the night before.
Variations: add turmeric & black pepper (immunity), fresh mint (digestive aid), cayenne pepper (metabolic boost), or extra lemon and honey (throat soothing).
