Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Make sure to activate properly.
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed Warm, not hot, for yeast activation.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough and cut into bar shapes. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk. Drizzle over the warm bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in microwave for a few seconds.
