Marry Me Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Colander
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Microplane or zester
  • Chef's knife and cutting board

Ingredients
  

For the Pasta

  • 16 oz linguine or fettuccine
  • Salt for pasta water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Shrimp

  • 1.5 lbs large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes adjust to taste

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil roughly chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Prep Everything

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  • Prep shrimp and mince garlic.
  • Measure out all ingredients for smooth cooking.

Cook the Pasta

  • Salt boiling water generously, then add pasta.
  • Cook 1-2 minutes less than package says.
  • Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.

Cook the Shrimp

  • Heat 2 tbsp butter in skillet over medium-high.
  • Sear shrimp in a single layer, 2 mins per side.
  • Remove and set aside.

Make the Sauce

  • Add remaining butter and garlic to same pan.
  • Cook 30 secs, then add red pepper flakes.
  • Deglaze with wine, simmer 2 mins.
  • Add cream, simmer 3-4 mins.
  • Stir in parmesan until smooth. Add pasta water if needed.

Combine Everything

  • Toss pasta into sauce to coat.
  • Add shrimp, lemon zest, and juice.
  • Cook 1-2 mins until everything is well combined.
  • Finish with fresh basil, taste and adjust seasoning.

Notes

You can sub shrimp for chicken or lobster.
For dairy-free, use coconut cream (flavor will vary).
For gluten-free, use GF pasta.
Add cherry tomatoes, spinach, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
