  • ½ cup unrefined sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder Use fresh matcha for best flavor and color.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional) Can be swapped with nuts or dried fruit.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is blended well.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, matcha powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until smooth.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

To keep brownies fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze individually wrapped brownies.
