Ingredients
  

Pinwheel Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sautéed Cooked until moisture is reduced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar) Choose your preferred cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter For greasing and flavor
  • 1 egg for egg wash Beaten before brushing
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread the sautéed mushrooms evenly over the pastry.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the mushrooms.
  • Carefully roll the pastry into a log shape.
  • Slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  • Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pinwheels.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3 days. To freeze, place baked pinwheels in a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness. Sauté mushrooms well to reduce moisture and consider adding herbs for extra flavor.
