Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring Cups
  • Cast iron skillet
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 can 14 oz salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed saltines
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Salmon Mixture:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, onion powder, and dill (if using). Season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form the Patties:

  • Scoop about 1/4 cup of the mixture and shape it into a patty. Repeat to make 5-6 patties.

Chill the Patties:

  • Place the patties on a plate or tray and chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to help them firm up.

Fry the Patties:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve:

  • Serve hot with lemon wedges and your favorite condiments. Pair with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
