Ingredients
  

For the cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Bring to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Additional for dusting after baking.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Adds sweetness and texture.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can use gluten-free flour as a substitute.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances the sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Can be replaced with vanilla extract for a different flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract For added depth of flavor.

For dusting

  • Additional powdered sugar For a finishing touch.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Mix in the peppermint and vanilla extracts.
  • Gradually blend in the flour and salt until just combined.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
  • Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze for up to three months for longer storage.
