  • 1 cup warm water Use warm water to activate the yeast.
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast Ensure the yeast is fresh for best results.
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to mix different cheeses for flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted Brush on top before baking.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit until bubbly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Cooking

  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  • Cut the dough into strips and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  • Brush the melted butter over the strips and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

These sticks are best served warm. Pair them with marinara sauce or a light salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
