Ingredients
  

For the Basic Sabja Lemonade:

  • 2 tablespoons sabja seeds sweet basil seeds
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 4-5 tablespoons sugar or honey adjust to taste
  • 3 cups cold water
  • Pinch of black salt
  • Ice cubes

Optional Flavor Boosters:

  • Fresh mint leaves for muddling
  • 1 teaspoon ginger juice
  • Chat masala for sprinkling

Instructions
 

  • Soak the Seeds: Soak 2 tablespoons sabja seeds in 1/2 cup water for 15-20 minutes until they swell and develop a gel-like coating.
  • Prepare Lemon Base: Squeeze and strain fresh lemons to get 1/2 cup juice. Mix lemon juice with sugar or honey in a large pitcher until sweetener dissolves completely.
  • Combine Ingredients: Add 3 cups cold water and a pinch of black salt to the lemon mixture. Strain the soaked sabja seeds and add them to the lemonade. Stir gently.
  • Chill and Serve: Add ice cubes, chill for at least 10 minutes. Serve in tall glasses, garnish with fresh mint or lemon slices if desired. Adjust sweetness or tartness to taste.

Notes

For best texture, soak sabja seeds fresh each time and add just before serving.
You can substitute chia seeds if sabja seeds are unavailable, but texture will differ.
Try variations like adding mint leaves, ginger juice, sparkling water, or rose water for different flavor profiles.
Lemonade base can be prepared ahead and stored in fridge for up to 3 days.
Consume complete drink within 24 hours for optimal freshness and texture.
