  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Cooked until no longer pink
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 3/4 – 2 cups buttermilk Add gradually until sticky dough forms
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted Used for greasing the baking dish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the breakfast sausage until no longer pink (about 8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder; mix well.
  • Gradually add buttermilk to the dry mixture until a sticky dough forms. Fold in cooked sausage and cheese.
  • Pour melted butter into a greased baking dish; spread biscuit dough evenly over the butter and cut into squares.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Wrap tightly to freeze, and they'll keep for about a month.
