Ingredients
  

For the Crostini

  • 1 baguette 1 baguette, sliced 1/2" thick on a bias Choose a fresh baguette for optimal texture.

For the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 1/2 unit Zest of 1/2 lemon Adds a fresh flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from half a lemon) Enhances the cream cheese mixture.
  • 8 oz 8 oz. cream cheese Let it soften for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill Fresh herbs add great flavor.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup sliced chives Optional, can adjust based on preference.

For Topping

  • 8 oz 8 oz. smoked salmon Choose high-quality smoked salmon.
  • 2 tablespoons Whole grain mustard, for serving Adds a tangy flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Capers, for serving Optional garnish.
  • 1 small 1 small red onion, thinly sliced Enhances flavor and presentation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Arrange the baguette slices evenly on a baking sheet and drizzle them with extra-virgin olive oil.
  • Bake the bread slices for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and crisp.
  • Let the toasted baguette slices cool slightly.

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • In a medium bowl, zest half a lemon and add the juice until you have about one tablespoon.
  • Add the cream cheese, chopped dill, and sliced chives, then beat the mixture until fluffy.

Assembly

  • Spread a generous layer of the lemon dill cream cheese mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
  • Top each with smoked salmon, then add a dollop of whole grain mustard.
  • Garnish with capers, thinly sliced red onion, and a sprinkle of fresh dill.

Notes

Serve immediately for the best taste. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, but assemble fresh before serving.
