Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or sturdy glass
  • Muddler
  • tall glass (highball or Collins)
  • Strainer
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 4-5 fresh strawberries hulled and chopped
  • 0.5 tbsp simple syrup or honey adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 4-6 oz sparkling water plain or citrus-flavored
  • Ice cubes fresh
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: splash of ginger ale for extra sparkle

Instructions

  • Hull and chop fresh strawberries. Place them in a cocktail shaker or sturdy glass.
  • Add simple syrup or honey to the strawberries. Muddle gently to release juices but keep some texture.
  • Add fresh lime juice and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Strain the strawberry-lime mixture over the ice.
  • Pour sparkling water over the mixture (4-6 oz depending on preference).
  • Stir gently to combine without losing carbonation.
  • Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and a sprig of mint (slap the mint between hands before garnishing for aroma).

Notes

Use fresh strawberries for best flavor and texture; frozen can be used in a pinch but may alter texture.
Fresh lime juice is essential—avoid bottled juice for best taste.
For a tropical twist, replace half the strawberries with pineapple chunks and use coconut water instead of sparkling water.
For a herbaceous variation, muddle basil leaves with strawberries instead of mint garnish.
Prepare strawberry puree and lime juice in advance for batch prep, but assemble drinks just before serving to maintain fizz and freshness.
