Pastry brush
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam or fresh sliced strawberries
- 1 egg for egg wash
- Powdered sugar for optional glaze
- Optional Add-ins:
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 1 tbsp sliced almonds for topping
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cut puff pastry into 4–6 equal rectangles.
Mix filling: In a bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
Assemble: Spoon 1 tbsp cream cheese filling onto each rectangle, followed by 1 tbsp jam or a few strawberry slices. Fold or shape as desired.
Brush edges with beaten egg for golden shine.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until puffed and golden.
Cool slightly. Optional: Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk or lemon juice.
Serve warm or at room temperature with coffee or tea.
Use full-fat cream cheese for the best texture.
Jam vs. fresh berries: Jam is easier to work with, but fresh berries offer a more vibrant flavor and look.
Freeze unbaked pastries for later and bake directly from frozen.
Add lemon zest for a bright, citrusy twist.
