Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast or 1 packet
  • 1 cup warm water around 110°F
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz sliced provolone cheese
  • 6 oz thinly sliced ham
  • 6 oz sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup chopped roasted red peppers
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)

For the Topping:

  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

Make the Dough (if not using store-bought):

  • Combine warm water, yeast and sugar in a bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add olive oil, salt, and 2 cups flour. Mix well.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour until a slightly sticky dough forms.
  • Knead on floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.

Assemble the Stromboli:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll dough into a 12x16 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  • Layer provolone cheese, ham, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers.
  • Top with mozzarella, Italian seasoning, and garlic.
  • Roll up tightly from the long edge, pinching seam and ends to seal.
  • Place seam-side down on baking sheet.
  • Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with parmesan and oregano.
  • Cut small slits on top for steam to escape.

Bake:

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and internal temp reaches 165°F.
  • Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve in slices with warm marinara for dipping.
