Main ingredients

  • 2 large large onions Sliced thick enough to hold filling
  • 1 cup cream cheese Softened for easy mixing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar For flavor and creaminess
  • ½ cup diced jalapeños Adjust for spice level

Coating and frying

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs For crispy coating
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For flavor
  • 1 tsp onion powder For flavor
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup flour For dredging
  • 2 eggs, beaten For binding
  • Oil for frying Enough for frying

Preparation

  • Prepare the onion rings by slicing the onions thick enough to hold the filling.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, and diced jalapeños. Mix well.
  • Fill the onion rings with the cream cheese mixture.
  • Dredge each filled onion ring first in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry each onion ring for 3–4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  • Drain the onion rings on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Serve hot for the best experience.

Notes

These onion rings can be served with ranch dressing, spicy mayo, or sweet chili sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze them for longer storage.
