Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Grater
  • Whisk or spoon
  • kitchen towel or cheesecloth

Ingredients

  • 2 cups full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 large English cucumber, grated and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated or minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Grate the cucumber and place it in a clean towel. Squeeze out as much water as possible to prevent watery dip.
  • In a large bowl, combine Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  • Stir in cucumber, dill, and mint. Mix well. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best results, always drain the cucumber well to avoid watery tzatziki. Chill at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can meld together. Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or as a sauce for gyros and grilled meats.
